Akshara Arangetram

Akshara Arangetram

An Arangetram is far more than a formal debut; it is the culmination of years of rigorous discipline, a sacred transition from a student to a performer. At Vyshnavie Natya Centre, we view this milestone as a testament to an artist’s endurance and devotion. On March 29th, 2026, the lights dimmed at Ravindra Bharathi for an evening that felt less like a recital and more like a shared spiritual journey. The evening began with a soulful invocation of Srivigna Rajam Baje. Accompanied by Sriram Jonnalagadda’s grounded vocals, the music pulled the audience into a deep rhythmic trance. This led into the Jathiswaram, where Akshara displayed sharp, geometric precision.

The emotional heart of the night was the Neelambari. As Akshara portrayed a maiden’s deep devotion, the atmosphere in the hall shifted. The quietness was later transformed during the Shiva Thandava. Enhanced by Surabhi Kishore’s strategic lighting and powerful percussion from Chandrakanth on mrudangam and Srikanth on the tabla, the stage pulsed with a formidable energy.

From the religious fervor of the Abhang to the polished tempo shifts of the Thillana, Akshara demonstrated a level of skill that felt both deliberate and refined. The finale, “Snake Dance,” left the audience in awe, with guests noting a “boneless” fluidity that showcased her immense physical control.

The evening concluded with high praise from distinguished guests, including IAS Chakravarthy, Dr. Arpitha, and Aparna Kandha. They rightly noted the profound influence of her Guru, Smt. Rajeswari Sainath, whose guidance was visible in every mudra and movement.

To our fellow art lovers: An Arangetram is a marathon of the soul. We extend our deepest congratulations to Akshara and her family. It takes a village to raise an artist, and with the vision of Guru Kalaimamani Dr Rajeswari Sainath, this debut was a success.

Keep supporting the arts, for it is in these moments of dedication that culture stays alive.
